Questions about GLS and sustainability

Is GLS sustainable?

We are committed to taking care of our environment and as a parcel distributor we do our best to reduce our impact on the world around us.

That's why we have joined forces with all European GLS countries to reduce our climate and environmental footprint. It has launched a number of projects and set ambitious targets that will enable us to deliver all net-zero-emission* parcels by 2045.

We have 407 electric cars that deliver our parcels emission-free every day throughout Denmark. We are continuously adding more electric cars to our transportation fleet, so you have a greater chance of having your parcel delivered in a more environmentally friendly way. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to opt for delivery by electric car.

*GLS B.V. is committed to reduce its absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2045, using 2021 as the base year. The residual emissions will be neutralized. This means the business counterbalances up to 10% of its CO2e emissions with investments in carbon removal projects outside its value chain, in line with the SBTiNet-ZeroStandard. The Science Based Targets initiative commitment of GLS B.V. encompasses all affiliated companies of GLS B.V. operating under the GLS trademark. GLS B.V.’s ambitions are tracked at the consolidated Group level and do not represent individual ambitions for affiliated companies. These companies may perform above or below the ambitions while the overall Group maintains compliance with the consolidated overall Group ambition.
