The new facility, located in Plaza, Zaragoza's leading logistics platform, incorporates state-of-the-art automation technology with the capacity to process up to 16,000 parcels per hour

Zaragoza, September 8, 2026. GLS Spain today inaugurated its new hub in Zaragoza, a state-of-the-art logistics facility that strengthens the company's operational network in northeastern Spain and responds to growing demand driven by e-commerce. The event was attended by local authorities and brought together more than 100 guests, including customers and GLS partner agencies, who had the opportunity to experience first-hand the technological and operational capabilities of the new center.
The project represents an investment of €21 million and will support a workforce of nearly 100 employees, reinforcing the company's commitment to creating stable, skilled, and future-oriented jobs. Through this investment, GLS Spain reaffirms its commitment to Zaragoza and Aragon, contributing to the region's economic and employment growth. Located in Plaza (Plataforma Logística de Zaragoza), one of Southern Europe's most important logistics hubs, the facility was developed in collaboration with Montepino under a turnkey model.
The site is built on a 21,500 m² plot and comprises a 7,400 m² warehouse along with 950 m² of office space spread across two floors. Its strategic location provides direct access to the A-2 (Madrid-Barcelona), A-23 (Valencia), and AP-68 (Bilbao) motorways, further strengthening Zaragoza's role as a key logistics gateway for national connectivity.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the new facility, was attended by Mr. Octavio López, Regional Minister for Housing, Development, Logistics and Territorial Cohesion of the Government of Aragon; Mr. Fernando A. Beltrán Blázquez, Delegate of the Spanish Government in Aragon; Ms. Noelia Herrero Arenas, Deputy Delegate of the Spanish Government in Zaragoza; and Mr. Miguel Ángel García Muro, Councillor for Economy and Digital Transformation of Zaragoza City Council, among other representatives.

For his part, Octavio López, Regional Minister for Housing, Development, Logistics and Territorial Cohesion of the Government of Aragon, thanked GLS for its commitment to Aragon and PLAZA. He highlighted that the new logistics center "fits perfectly into the PLAZA ecosystem, the leading logistics platform in Southern Europe, where leading companies in the sector choose to establish and expand their projects."
López also noted that logistics currently represents 7.7% of Aragon's GDP, supports more than 36,000 direct jobs, and continues to attract investments that strengthen the regional economy.
"This is made possible through solid foundations and developments that attract companies such as GLS, whose expansion will allow the company to reach a workforce of nearly 100 employees at its new facilities."
The Regional Minister also emphasized that "the logistics industry of the future will be more digital, more automated, more connected, and more sustainable," adding that "this new GLS facility at PLAZA is an excellent example of the transformation currently driving the sector."
Capacity, Automation and Operational Efficiency
From an operational perspective, the new hub features three automated sorting systems with a processing capacity of 16,000 parcels per hour, significantly increasing productivity, improving transit times, and enhancing network resilience during peak-demand periods.
The facility has been designed to optimize operational flows, ensuring efficient loading and unloading processes while facilitating coordination between different transportation modes. This increases sorting capacity and accelerates parcel deliveries, further reinforcing GLS's commitment to service excellence.
