We would like to inform you on this website about the collection and further processing of personal data for the purpose of delivering a parcel in all countries where GLS has a subsidiary (“GLS Czech Republic”).

II. General information
1. Personal data

Personal data contains details about the personal and factual circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. This means, for example: information such as name and surname, address, telephone number and email address.

Information that cannot be linked to a specific or identifiable person – such as statistical data – is not considered personal data.

2. Applicable data protection law and obligation to maintain confidentiality of personal data

All GLS companies in EU countries are subject to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant national data protection laws.

GLS CZ provides forwarding and transport services to the public or contributes to the provision of these services and is obliged to comply with obligations in connection with maintaining correspondence secrecy. All GLS CZ employees undertake to maintain confidentiality of personal data and to maintain correspondence secrecy.

3. Information security

GLS companies do everything possible to protect personal data against loss and misuse using technical and organizational security measures. Personal data is only processed by systems that are protected by appropriate security measures in accordance with the GLS IT security policy. GLS will adapt its security measures and personal data protection measures as technological developments require.

III. Shipment and addressee data
1. Data categories, purposes of processing personal data and legal title

For the purpose of providing forwarding and transport services and thus fulfilling the contract with its customers (senders) [According to Article 6 (b) GDPR], including in particular the delivery of parcels, payment for services, processing complaints and claims, etc., GLS CZ needs the sender's personal data (address details and other contact details, payment information and other relevant personal data according to the services ordered by the sender) as well as the addressee's personal data (name, address, postal code, city, country, optionally telephone number and email address).

The addressee's personal data, which are provided to GLS companies, as well as documentation (scans of parcels from various locations) and proof of delivery, may be processed and recorded by various GLS subsidiaries. GLS uses personal data from shipments and personal data of addressees exclusively for the fulfillment of contractual obligations. Any other use is not permitted.

In some cases, we may process data based on consent or on legitimate interest [According to Art. 7 GDPR] (in particular with regard to the following reasons: solvency checks, complaint procedures, litigation).

2. Responsibility

Compliance with applicable data protection legislation is a fundamental obligation of every GLS company. The transfer of data by the sender to the

also require the recipient's email address or phone number so that they can be informed about the delivery status of the package. GLS obtains the phone number and/or email address from the sender who ordered these additional services. The sender is also responsible for the accuracy of this data and in particular for the recipient's consent to the transfer of their email address and/or phone number to GLS.

If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact your contractual partner (sender). You can also exercise your right to withdraw your consent to GLS CZ. In this case, please use the contact details of the GLS CZ Data Protection Manager (see point I). 3. Data sharing and recipients

Generally, only the sender and recipient of the package are entitled to receive information about the status of the package. GLS provides information about the package to third parties (e.g. law enforcement agencies) only on the basis of the law.

GLS companies do not sell or rent personal data to any third party. However, under certain circumstances, GLS may share personal data without informing you. Persons who may receive your personal data include:

GLS subsidiaries and subcontractors in other EU countries or outside the EU for the purpose of fulfilling the contract (delivery of the package from the sender to the recipient [According to Art. 49 Para. 1 Letter (b) or (c) GDPR]).
Affiliated or unaffiliated third parties who are contractually bound to perform services for GLS or on behalf of GLS CZ, in particular regional depot operators, and third parties with whom GLS CZ has concluded relevant personal data protection agreements.
Other persons or organisations who have a right to personal data under applicable law.
Law enforcement and law enforcement authorities or other authorities who apply the law to protect national security interests or as part of legal process to protect property or to support investigations into violations of GLS rules and policies, unauthorized access to or use of GLS equipment or other illegal activities.


4. Retention and deletion

GLS CZ processes personal data as long as this is required for the purpose for which it is stored. GLS CZ will determine how long to store personal data based on the following requirements:

Operational requirements: such period of time as the personal data is necessary to provide the services.
Legal requirements: the period for which GLS CZ must retain personal data in order to fulfill legal obligations.
Archived data is stored in storage facilities accessible only to authorized personnel. After the legal retention period has expired, the data is deleted.

IV. Data subject rights, withdrawal of consent, exercise of rights, complaint to the Office for Personal Data Protection

You have the right to be informed about and have access to your processed personal data (right to be informed and right of access pursuant to Article 15 GDPR) to obtain the correction of inaccurate personal data (right to rectification pursuant to Article 16 GDPR)
to obtain the erasure of your personal data (right to erasure pursuant to Article 17 GDPR)
to restrict processing (right to restriction of processing pursuant to Article 18 GDPR)
to obtain your personal data that you provide to us (right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR) to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing of personal data based on legitimate interests or the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (right to object pursuant to Article 21) provided that the necessary legal conditions are met.

2. Withdrawal of consent

If your consent has been requested for the processing of your personal data, we hereby inform you that you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data before the withdrawal of consent.

3. Exercising your rights

If you wish to exercise your rights as a data subject or to withdraw your explicitly granted consent, please send a message to the GLS CZ Data Protection Manager (see point I), explaining which right you wish to exercise so that GLS CZ can take the necessary steps to respect your rights.
