We rely on sustainable and long-term cooperation and high quality in transport services. Many of our transport partners have therefore been working for GLS for decades.
Together strong: in order to ensure a successful cooperation, we are in constant contact with our transport partners. On the ground we discuss arrangements of our cooperation. Thus, we optimize processes and exchange ideas about possible improvements – but also about previous successes.
The values and basic rules of conduct shared by both sides are laid down in a partnership code – based on the principles of partnership, fairness and responsibility.

New depots and the expansion and modernization of existing depots strengthen the network and shorten the transport routes. Continuous investments are also being made in training, in communication and in new services and solutions such as the FlexDeliveryService.

We rely on long-term partnerships because they are the basis for the top performance that our customers expect from us. Together we want to inspire our shipping and end customers alike.
Division of labor is a principle that is successfully implemented in many areas. Like most large parcel companies, we use carriers for long-distance shipments and for parcel delivery and collection. Our transport partners and drivers know their markets and local conditions inside out and therefore are able to plan delivery routes best.
Of course we are interested in sustainable and long-term business relationships with our transport partners, as an excellent working relationship is the cornerstone of the high-quality service that we are used to offer our customers. Our business relationships with more than a third of our transport partners go back more than ten years - in some cases even more than 25 years.
GLS negotiates individual contracts with each of its transport partner. When it comes to negotiating contracts, it is important that the economic framework conditions of both contracting parties are taken into account in an even-handed manner.
The remuneration of the delivery drivers is agreed individually between the transport company and the driver employed there.
In recent years we have continuously improved processes and procedures and continue to do so. Investments are mainly made in system optimization - including networks, equipment and communication technology, services, tools, improved processes and training.
We offer training programs that deal with the challenges of of day-to-day work routines such as load securing, driving safety and economical driving as well as fundamental skills for a successful management of operational and administrative taks. Moreover we offer a comprehensive training program for drivers, which includes e.g. driving technique trainings.
We rely on continuous communication with our transport companies in order to continuously optimize cooperation. Depot dialogues ensure continuous and direct communication. The flow of information between recipients, delivery drivers and depots is constantly being improved and simplified through additional data and communication options.
Transport partners can procure clothing for their drivers from an extensive catalogue of modern, high-quality items. The supply contains a wide range of different articles and takes into account the drivers’ individual needs in terms of gender, size, season, application and so on.
As head I am responsible for my employees. GLS not only supports me in my work, but also all my drivers with numerous tools. The cohesion and cooperation are great - both in my team and with the GLS team. I have been a transport partner for more than 15 years and hope to stay that way until I retire.
